PARSHA SUMMARY:
- This Parsha continues to talk about the laws of impurity.
- Laws of a woman after giving birth.
- All male infants are to have a brit mila on the 8th day of life.
- Laws of Tzoraat
SHABBAT IMABBA:
Here is a great way for my father and I to learn a little bit of Parsha each week, even though we live far from each other.
( I like the play on words of Abba in the word Shabbat and bat (daughter...) and Imabba meaning "with Abba" and Ima Abba written together! Thanks Abba and Ima :-)
This week's Parsha talks about women giving birth and the birth of a new son.
On the eighth day if the baby is doing well a brit milah is performed.
On the eighth day if the baby is doing well a brit milah is performed.
Usually the bracha given by a brit milah is
כשם שנכנס לברית כך יכנס לתורה לחופה ולמעשים טובים.
Just like a new baby boy enters the brit, which remains with him forever, so to, the Torah, chupa and maasim Tovim should stay forever.
Why is it called Brit?
The gematria of brit is 612. We have 613 mitzvot. We are teaching the child that the first mitzvah, the brit mila, is being given to him forever and now it is up to the child, to hold the rest.
PARSHA DESSERT:
Yes it is Chodesh Nissan so you can be extra creative. Any cakes in the freezer? Serve them and let it be a cake in celebration for a brit milah.
You have sunflower seeds at home?
Parshat Tazria- perfect..
